The Story of Bottled Water (2010)

TEDxChumash announces the TEDx event in San Luis Obispo,

to be held on 27th May 2010, at the SLO Art Center San Luis Obispo.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. Three broad subject areas that are collectively, shaping our future. TED, based in Monterey California, stages an annual forum  where some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about.  The speakers  have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono.   Often the most fascinating speakers are the less well known.

Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa” and “one-evening journey into the future.” The diverse audience – CEOs, scientists, artists, philanthropists – is almost as extraordinary as the speaker list.
In the spirit of “ideas worth spreading,” TED has created TEDx.  TEDx is a program of locally organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called “TEDxChumash”, x = an independently organized TED event.  At TEDxChumash,  TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to stimulate deep discussions  and connections  in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are locally organized.
The one-day event will feature a series of presentations  designed to spark conversation & inspire action with ideas worth spreading. The theme for the event will be THINKERS AND DOERS and  will immerse the audience in a multi-disciplinary array of topics ranging from technology, design and the arts, to social policy.

We are seeking presenters for this event. The event is hosted by Jacky Lopez, founder of Queen Global Communications, LLC., under official license from TED.
The event will be attended by  a cross section of the public . In keeping with our event name TEDxChumash embrace all of Central Coast including San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.

About TED
TED is an annual event where some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design – three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa” and “a four-day journey into the future.” The diverse audience – CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists – is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono.
